Kay
Danes has been invited
to speak at the 61st Conference on World Affairs in Boulder,
Colorado.
In an
Australian first, Kay Danes will be
speaking at the 61st
Conference on World Affairs in Boulder, Colorado. The
event attracts audiences of more than 75,000. Previous guest
speakers have included Eleanor Roosevelt and Vice-President Joe
Biden.
‘I
really have Michael Passe to thank for this wonderful opportunity. I was
planning to return to the States later in the year to support a push for the
Hmong-Lao Civil rights movement, recently highlighted in Clint Eastwood’s Hollywood feature film, ‘Gran Torino’. I have been an advocate
for the political prisoners of Laos for years now, ever since my
own unlawful detainment. Michael’s suggestion that I attend the Conference was
timely, albeit sooner than I would have liked but not wanting to miss an
opportunity of such prominence to promote the issue of human rights, I felt
compelled to accept the invitation that arrived shortly after from the CWA
Director James Palmer.
There was never any doubt that I
would use this event to highlight the case of Schapelle Corby and others, the
issue of trial by media, accessing our human rights and other issues that
affect us when we travel overseas.
Neville
Wright, the administrator of the Schapelle Forum
generously offered to help raise funds to support my participation at the
Conference. I was completely overwhelmed by his suggestion and humbled by the
immediate positive response it drew from other supporters. As most people who
know me will know that I do a great deal of volunteer work and it does get
quite expensive. These funds will certainly help offset some of the costs of
getting to the Conference.
I should also mention that since I
accepted the offer of invitation from CWA, there have been a number of
American based Schapelle Supporters who have offered a great deal of support,
in particular, Michael Passe, Karen
Denzler and Leann Hoelscher. Leann will be accompanying me to
the Conference to help spread the word on Schapelle’s plight; and then after
the Conference we are moving onward to scheduled meetings in New York City and Washington DC. I am hoping to speak to a number
of new legislators at Congress while in DC and attend the National Press Club
as a speaker.
There is still a
great deal to organise and we are currently waiting on further information
from Michael in regards to how best to promote Schapelle’s plight at the CWA.
In the meantime, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to everyone
who has given their encouragement and support to me. I will, as you know, do
my very best to create awareness of Schapelle’s plight, which is something
that could so easily happen to any one of us! Thank you again for your
support.”

New Schapelle video:
An excellent new video has been produced exploring the major
myths, which have been carefully cultivated and in most cases presented as
smears via the media.

Announcing
another newsletter:
Michael Passe of Colorado, who’s been
actively involved in promoting Kay
Danes to the Conference on World Affairs, has put together a
newsletter
http://www.freeschapelle.com.au/Newsletter/page1.html
Michael has put a lot of work into it and we welcome another vehicle for
spreading the word. Well done,
Michael!
Schapelle’s
Health:
Two of our Forum members visited
Schapelle in Kerobokan recently and report that she has her good days and bad.
She has put on a little weight. No doubt visits from supporters as well as
family and close friends helps, as do letters from supporters. Also she is
doing some hand crafts work so beads and string are welcomed
items.
Until next
month.
Kind
regards
Noel

How can I
help?
Donations
Schapelle’s family has ongoing costs for food,
clothing, medication and even accommodation in that hell hole. Much of the
settlement money from the defamation case against the Seven Network went to
retiring debt. The Corby family is not
rolling in dough as some would have you believe. The family still lives in an
average house in a working class suburb near the Gold
Coast.
The best way to assist is by donations via PayPal. http://www.freeschapelle.com.au/donations.htm
