A DEPRESSED Schapelle Corby had to be coaxed to safety after climbing a water tower near her Bali cell block.

Corby, who has suffered a mental breakdown, recently scaled the tower in Kerobokan Jail.

Yesterday her sister Mercedes said Corby was struggling and her health remained a "big worry".

"She is still struggling. It is really hard," Mercedes said.

She said her sister had a psychiatrist seeing her in jail and she was still taking medication.

"We are trying to get her better. Every day is difficult and she is not good," she said.

In June, Corby spent 1½ weeks in hospital after suffering a mental breakdown and was seen at the hospital clutching a doll and lying on the floor of her hospital room.

She was delusional and paranoid, believing people spied on her through a hole in the ceiling of her cell.

Her mother Rosleigh Rose is in Bali visiting Corby, who at times is seen sitting, dazed and confused.

Yesterday jail authorities held the opening ceremony of a week-long sports carnival to mark Independence Day celebrations.

Women prisoners took part in an aerobics competition, but Corby, 32, was not participating.

Later this month Corby is set to win a four-month reduction on her 20-year drug smuggling term as part of Indonesia's Independence Day.

Prison authorities have also recommended a five-month remission for fellow Australian prisoner and Bali Nine heroin smuggler Renae Lawrence. The remissions, which must be approved by Jakarta authorities, will be announced on August 17.

Other Australians in the jail, the rest of the Bali Nine, do not qualify for remissions because they are serving life sentences. Three of the Bali Nine are on death row.
