GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS
    The International Relief Center
    for the Southeast Asia, Inc.

In the spotlight at Foreign Prisoner Support Service [FPSS], is a very special group that has been chosen this month [Nov 05] by FPSS to be highlighted because of their tremendous dedication and commitment to providing humanitarian support to the poor people in Cambodia.

IRC Inc. is a non-governmental, not for profit organization operating out of the state of Tennessee, United States of America. FPSS has known Vice-President Colonel Khambang Sibounheuang for a number of years and in fact, it was through him that FPSS first learned of the foundation created in support of Humanitarian projects in Cambodia.

IRC Inc. has no political identity or objective. It is simply a group of individuals with extensive knowledge of Southeast Asia who are dedicated to the humanitarian assistance for the people in this area.

The Foundation assists locals in many ways i.e.: funding, procurement and distribution of essential medications and supplies, the creation of medical facilities and services, medical and basic life skills training to the people of Southeast Asia. It offers effective medical assistance and training, and addresses the health problems of malaria, plague, hepatitis B, HIV, rabies, dengue, fever, Japanese encephalitis, eye infection, liver fluke disease, bilharzias, creatures, diarrhoea, heat exhaustion and symptoms of heat stroke, to mention only a few.

The IRC Inc also hopes to provide educational opportunities to the children of impoverished regions in Cambodia. In fact, the IRC has built its first school in the Cambodian province of Savay Rieng.

The school serves the children of the thirty-two thousand poor Laotian refugees living in the eight surrounding villages. In Addition, IRC responded to the desperate plea of the King Cambodia to contribute funds to provide a water pump and rice ration to the area. The success of these efforts is highly encouraging, and IRC hopes to continue its work in other identified areas of need in Southeast Asia. The current activities listed below are conducted mainly from IRC's main office in Nashville, Tennessee and from its satellite office in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

The IRC could not succeed without charitable contributions from the international community. If you would like to know more about this organization and how you can assist to improve the lives of those stricken with poverty then please write to:
