Sentence: Currently on DEATH ROW in Indonesia
Offence: Arrested on April 17, 2005 at Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali, Indonesia with 1.3 kilograms of heroin strapped to his legs under his clothing. Scott was found guilty of attempting to import heroin from Indonesia to Australia.
Case info: Scott Rush is a young man born in Brisbane Australia and is one of nine Australians arrested in Bali found guilty of attempting to import a total of 8.3 kg of heroin from Indonesia to Australia. It was Scott's first trip to Bali and he was 19 years old at the time of his arrest.
On February 13, 2006, Scott Rush appeared in court for sentencing.
He was sentenced to life imprisonment but appealed his sentence, and on September 6, 2006, his sentence was upgraded to the death penalty.
Scott is currently awaiting the death sentence in Kerobokan Prison's 'Death Row Tower'. He shares a cell with three other Australians also on death row. He sleeps on a mattress on the floor and the conditions are hot and crowded. Scott Rush is displaying clear signs of depression and symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. FPSS Advocates continue to appeal to the Australian Government to request his immediate transfer to an Australian Correctional Facility where he can receive proper medical treatment and rehabilitation.
